Ulland Investment Advisors invests portfolios in high-growth companies. Today many of these companies are in industries where growth is obvious: energy, biotechnology, technology, and financial services.
Our goal for all portfolio styles is to achieve above market returns. In declining markets, we seek to have returns near the market index. The comparative indexes we use include the Russell 2000 Growth for Intelligent Growth portfolios, the Russell 3000 Growth for Intelligent Blend portfolios, and the Russell 1000 for Defensive Growth portfolios.
UIA uses Axys portfolio accounting platform, the top client record keeping software in the industry. Quarterly reports will list portfolio holdings, cost basis, the current price, and year-to-date and cumulative performance.
Performance enhancing techniques, which are often high risk, will not be used in your portfolio. For example, portfolios will not be leveraged. Options, derivatives, and exotic securities will not be purchased. All investments will be publicly traded securities on the New York Stock Exchange, the American Stock Exchange, or NASDAQ.
A custodian of your choice will keep your securities. Custodians include your current stockbroker, a discount broker/dealer or a trust company. Client checks are made out to the custodian for deposit. Withdrawal of funds, when requested, comes from the custodian to you at the direction of Ulland Investment Advisors. We do not hold your securities, nor do we accept deposits payable to us.
Your custodian will provide a detailed monthly transaction report for the account. This type of report is also available from UIA upon request. Reports on capital gains and losses, taken or untaken, are available to help your tax planning in taxable accounts.
